When you mention The Jaggerz to a Pittsburgher, chances are
that person will burst into a chorus of `The Rapper`. The Jaggerz are
a blue-eye soul band known for their rich vocals and soulful grooves.
The legendary Philadelphia International team of Gamble and Huff
produced The Jaggerz first album 'Introducing The Jaggerz' in 1969.
It's an R&B classic featuring Jimmie Ross singing the Steals Brothers
'Gotta Find My Way Back Home'. (The Steals Brothers later wrote "Could
It Be I'm Falling in Love" for The Spinners). The album also features
the cuts “That’s Why Baby I Love You” and “Together”.
Chuck Blasko’s The Vogues remain one of the top vocal
groups on the oldies scene today. Four gold records, two platinum
albums, and fifty years later, The Vogues continue to attract sellout
audiences at concerts and club appearances around the country. Their
outstanding talent, stylish delivery and excellent choice of material,
coupled with their vital, poised performance, makes this group one of
the world’s top nostalgia acts. Some and of their hits include ”I
Like Milk and Honey,” “You’re The One,” 5 O’Clock World,”
“Moments to Remember.”
The Skyliners will be in concert at this oldies show too!
Relive their award-winning 60’s hits, when this sensational tour
coming to the Palace Theatre.
The Skyliners biggest hits “Since I Don’t Have
You” and “This I Swear.” Their songs wre released nationally
in1959 and marked the beginning of a long and successful career for
the group. The Skyliners still thrill audiences with their beautiful
Doo Wop ballads, Jazz influenced standards, and Rock & Roll
classics.
Alan Freed invited them to appear on his 1959 Easter
stage show with Jackie Wilson, Fats Domino, and Bobby Darin. Dick
Clark took them on the road with his “Caravan of Stars” tour and
featured them on Bandstand and his Saturday night television show
numerous times.
The Marcels are as advertised, the guys who put the "Bomp"
in the "Bomp-A-Bomp" back in 1961 when their first recording, "Blue
Moon" sold over two and a half million copies. The Marcels can boast
of three record albums, numerous hit singles, with sales in the
millions. They also recorded the theme song, "The Greatest Love" for
the motion picture, "The Interns" and appeared with Chubby Checker in
the film "Twist Around The Clock." Their signature song, "Blue Moon"
has been used in at least four major motion pictures and various TV
shows, such as Sha Na Na, Cheers, Moonlighting, Laverne & Shirley,
Happy Days, etc.
With a music career spanning four decades, Pure Gold
performs material from the '50s, '60s and '70s as well as a blend of
blues, standards and original material to highlight their unique
talent and range.
Starting in 1978 as Acapella Gold, they quickly gained
popularity. After a few successful years they decided to add a band
and name the group Pure Gold. After 43 years of performing and sharing
the stage with many music legends, Pure Gold decided to retire, and
their fans were sad to see this legendary group perform its final show
in December 2021. With permission from the group's lifelong manager,
Henry DeLuca, an agreement was made to continue under new management
with a revitalized rendition of the band that has kept Pittsburgh
rocking since 1978 as The New Pure Gold!
