The famous "EMPTY" CHAIR OF PSYCHOTHERAPY OFFERS GREAT OPPORTUNITIES
TO CONCRETIZE, inspire and stir memories and feelings. Yet the power
of this venerable and valuable intervention, developed by Dr. J.L.
Moreno, the physician who created psychodrama, also can be misused and
diffused when its users have not been properly trained in safe role
play. This program, taught by Karen Carnabucci, LCSW, TEP, explores how
the empty chair and other props – such as scarves, mats, stuffed
animals and other objects – are valuable adjuncts to growth,
learning and self-understanding.
IN THIS WORKSHOP, YOU WILL LEARN:
* The historical background of the empty chair.
* How the empty chair can be adapted for psychotherapy, coaching,
education, training and other settings.
* How to use the chair as part of a warm up to move into deeper work.
* How to use additional props to concretize ideas and situations,
with or without chairs in psychodrama and sociodrama settings.
