Have you heard that the Delaware River supplies 15 million people with
their drinking water – including all of Philadelphia? Join
Independence Seaport Museum for an eco-adventure to learn more about
the Delaware River watershed and the important role it plays in the
local ecosystem. Find out how the health of the river has been
transformed since the passing of the Clean Water Act and learn about
easy steps you can take to improve the health of your local waterways.
Go for a leisurely two-hour paddle and learn about your local
waterway. Suitable for beginner paddlers. Cost of EXCURSION INCLUDES
KAYAK RENTAL, paddle and PFD. All EXCURSIONS ARE GUIDED AND INCLUDE
A SAFETY ORIENTATION AND KAYAKING INTRODUCTION. Life jackets must be
worn at all times. Event attendees must be 18 years of age or older to
participate. Paddling times depend on weather conditions, tides,
experience, and guided stops. Return times are estimates. Please
arrive 30 minutes early. We will be leaving promptly at departure
time. Paddles may be canceled for inclement weather events, such as
wind, excessive heat or excessive rain, and registered attendees will
be notified ideally 12-24 hours beforehand. Refunds will only be
issued if the event is canceled due to weather. FAQs: What should I
bring? Recommended items to bring on KAYAK EXCURSIONS: - Shoes that
can get wet (ideally ones that are secured to your feet, not flip
flops) - Clothing that can get wet - Full water bottle(s) and a
snack, such as granola bars- Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, other sun
protection- Medications you may need - Dry bag or waterproof phone
case if you plan on bringing any items on the river - Additional
