Explore The Woodlands after dark with a casual evening full of urban
biodiversity. Look for the bats and moths who live here and learn ways
to be a Citizen Scientist. Pack a picnic, bring your flashlights and
get ready to discover some of the mysteries of the urban wildlife that
calls The Woodlands home with scientist Heather Kostick.The BAT WALK
is back! We'll start at the Hamilton Mansion and walk as a group
through the cemetery to the highest point in center circle. Bats don't
fly until it's dark out, so the Bat Walk will start after sundown.The
Popalong Truck will be serving up the best of Summer in the form of
popsicles and ice cream sandwiches throughout the evening. This event
is free and open to the public. Advanced Registration is
required.Registration closes at 12:00PM on Thursday, August 12th. Look
out for a "Know Before You Go" email in your inbox soon after.
Parking is limited, so please consider walking, biking, or taking
public transportation.In the event of inclement weather, Nature Night
will be cancelled and notice will be posted on our website and social
media pages at least 2 hours prior to the event start time.About
Heather Kostick: Heather L. Kostick (she/her) is a Doctoral Candidate
in Environmental Science and is member of the Ward Lab at Drexel
University. She has a Bachelor of Science from Juniata College in
Wildlife Conservation, and a Master of Environmental Studies in
Ecology from the University of Pennsylvania. Heathers research
interests include conservation, biodiversity, urban ecology, and
resource management. She is proud to be a locally born and raised in
delco, and that her current research has a local connection that will
hopefully be useful to local communities and stakeholders.
