Human Sex Trafficking: The Medical-Legal Intersection with Trauma
Informed Solutions
Pop-Up Public Health Spotlight
January is Human Trafficking Awareness month.
Join us for an interactive conversation with Shea Rhodes, Esq, FCCP
[https://cseinstitute.org/staff/shea-m-rhodes/?mc_cid=dafb7bc1f0&mc_eid=%5BUNIQID%5D] and
Survivor Leader Tammy McDonnell
[https://cseinstitute.org/board/tammy-mcdonnell/?mc_cid=dafb7bc1f0&mc_eid=%5BUNIQID%5D].
We will discuss the magnitude of human trafficking in our region and
learn why cities like Philadelphia are potential hotbeds of
trafficking activity. Focus will be on how human sex trafficking
commonly presents in order to identify potential victimization.
Clinicians and all public health champions can become allies in the
multidisciplinary efforts to eradicate the insidious crime of
gender-based violence.
Program objectives:
* Define Human Trafficking and understand various forms of
trafficked persons
* Recognize how sex trafficking commonly presents and identify
indicators of potential sex trafficking victimization
* Understand and apply Federal and Pennsylvania laws on trafficking
and commercial sexual exploitation
* Appreciate the role in identifying victims and mitigating trauma
* Implement principles of trauma-informed care into everyday work
function
