May Day Medicine: Folk Remedies for the Heart

Mon 1 May 2017
6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Ended

In springtime, our appetite for joy is stirred by fragrant flowers and buzzing bees. In this workshop, we will make rose oxymel - an herbal folk remedy traditionally used for a joyous, open heart. We’ll dig into other remedies using common springtime plants found in Philadelphia - dandelions for the liver, hawthorn (or maythorn) for the heart. Everyone will leave with an alcohol free heart elixir that we make together. Presented by Attic Apothecary, in partnership with the Free Library's Education, Philosophy and Religion Department. Please note: These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration.
