Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that blends self-defence
moves with dance, acrobatics, and music. Capoeira is practiced around
the world and recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage
of humanity. It is a fun way to discover an ancestral tradition that
brings all kinds of people together to celebrate diversity. This club
is taught by Mestre Maxuel, who began practicing Capoeira at the age
of five in his native region of Bahia, Brazil. He has produced
multiple CDs of his own Capoeira music, and has set up schools in
Chile, France, and the United States. Mestre Maxuel has taught in
schools, universities, and cultural centers around the world; loves
sharing his passion for Capoeira with his students; and excels at
making classes enjoyable and accessible for everyone. (Please note:
Participants will require about 6 feet of open space in their home to
participate remotely. There are no sessions on Oct 15, Nov 5 & 26.)
