Join US as we celebrate Women’s History Month at the Blockson
Collection with a SCREENING OF _Mother Dot’s Philadelphia: The Music
Continues_ (runtime 26 min). This film by Malkia K. Lydia and Ryan
Saunders follows Philly jazz legend Dottie “MOTHER DOT” Smith as
she visits her contemporaries and old venues. The film aired on
PHILADELPHIA’s public television station WYBE and its MUSICAL SCORE,
composed by PHILADELPHIA’s own Rodney Whittenberg, won a regional
Emmy. _Mother Dot’s Philadelphia_ is filled with music and candid
conversations about faith and family.
This program is part of the _Black Lives Always Mattered!_ public
program series at the Blockson Collection, which is made possible
through the support of the PEW Center for Arts & Heritage grant.
