Please join US as we re-DISCOVER DOWNTOWN PITTSBURGH WHILE WELCOMING
MANY NEW MEETUP MEMBERS! We ll have a chance to check out public art
locations, hidden spots , and grab some food/coffee/drinks/ice cream
(perhaps at one of the outdoor dining locations) quickly as we walk
around together during the afternoon and early evening. We ll also
have a dinner option (around 5:30 PM) or other options for those that
may be interested. And if you joined the Meetup group a while ago, but
haven t had much free time, perhaps you can join us this time. This
event will bring together lots of new people (which will also help
with future introductions) as well as incorporate flexibility tailored
to the interests of the group. And for those that wish to do a bit of
shopping downtown (for example, in smaller groups to check out various
boutique stores, etc.), this will also be fine as we ll have a
gathering locations/times to re-connect with the group.
During this event, we ll have certain gathering locations/times as we
realize that not everyone s schedule is the same. So Meetup members
will have options to join the group at multiple times (for example,
from 1-3 PM, 3-5 PM, after 5 PM for those interested in dinner, etc.).
Please note that we ll tailor the Meetup description once we have an
idea of the number of RSVPs and weather forecast. So if the weather is
OK, we ll have options for those interested in doing a bit more
walking.
Meetup Considerations
1) Please note that this event seeks to focus on checking out places
that people haven t seen yet. So as people gather and express their
interests, we ll adjust the walk. Spots could include public art
locations and hidden spots which make Pittsburgh unique.
2) For those interested in the dinner or quick appetizer/drinks type
option, we ll gauge the interests of the group and then decide on a
place, such as Nicky s Thai Kitchen
(http://www.nickysthaikitchen.com/)(903
[http://www.nickysthaikitchen.com/)(903] Penn Avenue) or Ollie s
Gastropub with incredible views of the city on the 25th floor of the
Embassy Suites inside the historic Henry W. Oliver building.
3) Other options include the nearby Fort Pitt Block House
http://www.fortpittblockhouse.com [http://www.fortpittblockhouse.com]
or Fort Pitt Museum https://www.heinzhistorycenter.org/fort-pitt/
[https://www.heinzhistorycenter.org/fort-pitt/] in Point State Park --
as well as the Heinz History Center & Western Pennsylvania Sports
Museum http://www.heinzhistorycenter.org/
[http://www.heinzhistorycenter.org/]
Please be mindful that not everyone s interests are the same -- so we
ll incorporate some flexibility for those that wish to walk around
more. Because we re expecting a good turnout for this event (perhaps
15-20+ members, including their guests), it would also be OK if one
group of people decided on dinner while the rest of the group went
somewhere else.
And for those that wish to do a bit of shopping downtown (for example,
in smaller groups to check out various boutique stores, etc.), this
will also be fine as we ll have a gathering locations/times to
re-connect with the group.
