Get a closer look at trades of the eighteenth century in Newlin’s “History at Work” series. Members of Newlin Grist Mill’s staff, volunteers, and outside artisans will demonstrate their crafts and talk with visitors about how different trades and skills were integral to life in colonial Pennsylvania and to the operation of Newlin Grist Mill. These demonstrations take place on the last Saturday of the month from April through October between 10am and 3pm. April 25: Pottery - CANCELLED May 30: Cooperage June 27: Laundry & Soapmaking July 25: Ropemaking August 29: African-American Cooking September 26: Blacksmithing - Forging Utensils for the Kitchen October 31: Preserving Foods with Salt “History at Work” is free and open to the public of all ages.
