Your day begins with a stop at Union Cellars for a wine tasting on beautiful farmland panoramic mountain views. Union Cellars began as a dream of the owners to open a winery on a 130-year-old family-owned farm. The dream became a reality, as the owners converted a 1970's auto body shop into their tasting room and the rolling landscape was planted with 3 acres of vines featuring 6 different varietals, 3 red and 3 white. Enjoy a tasing and time to purchase some wine to take home with you to remember your visit or gift to others. Next, you will travel to Mifflinburg to enjoy free time to explore the festival inspired by the 700-year-old traditional German "Christkindl Market". Mifflinburg's main street is transformed into a marketplace with festive outdoor huts featuring unique handmade crafts and traditional Christkindl treats. The air is filled with the enticing aroma of roasted almonds, Hungarian goulash, Bratwurst, Schnitz und Knepp and hot spiced wine. Continuous indoor and outdoor musical entertainment keep you entertained throughout the day (schedule released closer to festival date). **Please remember to dress appropriately for the weather as the Christkindl Market is mainly outdoors and the motorcoach does not park at the festival site**. Afterwards, you will board the motorcoach and travel to Purity Candy to learn about their history and production process, and time to browse the store. Since 1907, this business has been all about natural ingredients, simple machines and carefully tested recipes. Purity's founder, Ford G. Birchard, believed that making small batches by hand contributed to his candy's outstanding reputation for quality, and that still rings true for its owners today. The good news is that there are no calories in the sweet scent that greets you as you enter the building. Browse the shop and perhaps treat yourself, or the candy lovers in your life, to some "chocolatey goodness" from Purity Candy Company.
