Run Free Trail Run

Join us for our inaugural Run Free Trail Run on February 29, 2020 at Hunting Island State Park. Choose from the 5k, 5 mile, or 10 mile option - or if you're daring enough run all three for our Run Free Triple Crown Challenge!  Start Times7:30am: 5k start8:15am: 5 mile start9:30am: 10 mile startNote: If you are doing the challenge you must be able to run a 5k in 45 min, 5 miles in 1:15, and 10 miles in 2:30 hours.  Course Information-All races will start the Hunting Island State Park Nature Center (should pop up in your google maps). -The 5k trail race is an out and back course with one aid station at the turn around point. Since we are using the beautiful established trail system at Hunting Island – the 5k will be a bit long ~3.3 miles. You can do it!-The 5 mile and 10 mile races will be run on a loop course with 5 mile runners running 1 clockwise loop and 10 mile runners running 2 clockwise loops. There will be water, nuun electrolytes, and on course nutrition for the 5 mile and 10 mile runners. There will be two aid stations per loop – one at the start/finish and another ~3miles into the loop. -The loop for the 5miler/10miler can be found here: http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/2738465455host_canon=mapmyrun.com Registration Fees-Registration before 1/31/2020 includes entrance to the park, access to the race course, on course hydration, official finisher time, a race tee or tank, free race photos, and finisher award. -Registration after 1/31/2020 does not guarantee tee shirt size or finisher award. -Triple Crown Challenge runners receive 1 race tee (or tank), all 3 finisher awards, and a special challenge award. -Race fee includes $5 entrance fee for runner. All spectators must pay entrance fees the morning of the race. We strongly encourage runners to carpool and arrive early.

We will provide water and nuun, but bring your own water bottle/camelbak/collapsible cup-Walkers are allowed, even encouraged to join all three races. Unfortunately, this is a not a stroller friendly course. -Hunting Island opens at 6am – we highly recommend carpooling and arriving early to get parked and pumped for race day. -The course is USATF sanctioned and directed by a certified RRCA Race Director.  -All proceeds for the inaugural race series go to support Run Free, a non-profit dedicated to supporting causes and organizations across the U.S. by running (and -fundraising) across all 50 states.
