                                                       FAMILY CONNECTION OF SC IS PRESENTING:                                                        SUPPORT PARENT TRAINING - Part 1 and 2             This workshop provides four hours of face to face evidence based training which will give you the skills to be able to support another parent effectively.  The goal of the Support Parent Program is to help educate, inspire and empower parents and their children to live rich, fulfilling lives in spite of many challenges.  Why should you become a Support Parent?  Because you have already gone through the journey that another parent is just beginning.   Topics covered in part 1: •           Overview of Family Connection and the Parent to Parent Support Program •           The Role & Expectations of a Support Parent •           The Process of Making a Match & Follow Up •           Making that First Phone Call & The Process of Grief •           Guidelines for Active Listening & Communication Skills Topics covered in part 2: •           Recognizing Cultural Competency •           Recognizing When Additional Support Is Needed •           Telling Your Story of Your Journey •           Stress Management/Self Care •           Resources/Discussion/Concerns/Questions For more information, contact Lisa Anderson – Landerson@FamilyConnectionSC.org or by phone: 864-585-5462 – ask for Lisa
