Melinda Doolittle became a household name on America’s most watched
stage, American Idol. Though she sustained a successful career as a
backup singer prior to “Idol,” Melinda captivated millions of
viewers week after week with her indelible vocals and assured them
that she was a stand-out soloist. The New York Times hailed Melinda as
one of the most “phenomenally gifted” singers of our time. The
Martin Center is a wonderful place nestled right in our community; it
is designed specifically for senior adults who want to remain actively
engaged. The need for a network of friends is no different if you are
in your 20’s, 30’s, 50’s or 90’s. The Martin Center is a place
where people can find fellowship, friendship and fun. It provides a
breadth and depth of opportunities that can’t be found in any other
location. Despite the perception of wealth in our community 25% of our
members live at or below the Federal poverty or low income guidelines.
With the support of our corporate partners we are able to continue the
services to these individuals at free or reduced rates. ponsorship are
available for those with financial hardship.The activities at the
Martin Center become a life-line for our members for resources and
companionship. The hardest thing for people to do is walk through our
doors. There promises to be a smiling face at the front door to greet
