Join historians Jimmy Gentry and Rick Warwick for Franklin Remembered
on Thursday, April 16, at 7 pm. Enjoy an evening of nostalgic
storytelling set against a backdrop of rarely seen historic
photographs that tell the many stories of Franklin and its rich
heritage. From the things that aren't there any more to those lovingly
preserved, listen as Jimmy and Rick reminisce about the unique people
and storied places that make Franklin a truly one-of-kind town. It
promises to be an evening of laughter, memories and stories during
Franklin Remembered. Jimmy Gentry, believed by many to be Franklin’s
greatest living hero, will share stories and photos of depression era
Franklin and Williamson County. Gentry’s stories don’t stop there.
As a WWII veteran that liberated the Dachau concentration camp,
Gentry’s perspective on life is that only a small handful of
Americans can still share to this day. Rick Warwick, Franklin and
Williamson County’s preeminent historian, will offer a uniquely
academic perspective for Franklin Remembered. Warwick’s work is
largely responsible for Franklin’s ability to save and cherish its
history and preserve its buildings. Author of nearly a dozen books
that focus on Williamson County’s past, Warwick is a welcome
addition to Franklin Remembered.
