The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra is back by popular demand for
one show only! This special Independence Day weekend performance will
be sure to put you In The Patriotic Mood. Hear your favorite tunes for
America along with Glenn Miller Orchestra’s own hits. The Glenn
Miller Orchestra received the first gold record ever awarded for its
version of “Chattanooga Choo Choo” and, in 1941, had more hit
records than any artist in the history of the recording industry. In
1942, at the height of the band’s popularity, Glenn Miller enlisted
and formed the Army Air Force Band to boost troop morale. After
Glenn’s disappearance in 1944, the band was led by Tex Beneke until
disbanding in 1950. In 1956, the Miller Estate authorized the
formation of the present band due to popular demand generated by
“The Glenn Miller Story” starring Jimmy Stewart. They thought it
would run a couple of years. Under the direction of Nick Hilscher, the
World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra continues to tour year-round,
including an annual tour of Japan (since 1964). With songs like “In
the Mood,” “A String of Pearls,” “The American Patrol,”
“Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree,” “Tuxedo Junction,”
“Little Brown Jug,” “Pennsylvania 6-5000,” and “Moonlight
Serenade,” it’s no wonder the Glenn Miller Orchestra remains the
most popular and sought-after big band in the world today.
