In these radically uncertain times when our DEMOCRACY IS AT STAKE,
unexamined ACTIVISM COULD DO MORE HARM THAN GOOD. So what can we do?
Join US to learn from the faculty of MEADVILLE LOMBARD, our UU
theological school in Chicago, how we can activate our UU theology and
values to create a more democratic society.Dr. Mike Hogue, Professor
of Theology, Ethics, and Philosophy of Religion, will give a lecture
based on his book _American Immanence: Democracy for an Uncertain
World_ that calls us to build radically democratic communities of
responsibility, resistance, and resilience. Dr. Pamela Lightsey, Vice
President of Academic and Student Affairs, will give a response to the
lecture. Dr. Elias Ortega, President and Professor of Religion,
Ethics, and Leadership, will lead the discussion after the lecture.
Meadville Lombard is also bringing their archivist to put the lecture
and discussion in a historical perspective. John Leeker, Director of
Library and Archives, will be available to talk about how history and
archives are a form of justice-making work.
