COURSE DESCRIPTION
This Vanderbilt Course is designated as a tutorial for Speech-Language Pathologists and Otolaryngologists to cultivate their understanding and performance of the laryngeal videostroboscopy exam. Principles of laryngeal function will be discussed so that the clinician will understand the diagnostic potential of stroboscopy. Several hours of hands-on sessions will develop skills in the clinical performance of both rigid and flexible endoscopy. Interpretation of stroboscopic parameters and perceptual analysis will be presented through didactic lectures and applied during instruction. This is not a CME-accredited course. ASHA CEUs only.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
After participating in this CE activity, participants should be able to:
• Identify the core components of a comprehensive stroboscopic exam
• Demonstrate an emerging skill with the mechanics of rigid and flexible endoscopy
• Identify anatmoical and physiologial landmarks germane to laryngeal assessment during a stroboscopic exam
• Interpret stroboscopic exams provided in a case study series and make therapeutic recommendations based on findings
