Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas will have the chance to flex their
architectural and engineering skills while developing critical
thinking, cooperation and team building abilities through the annual
Cookie Box Creations design contest. Participating Girl Scouts will
partner with local male and female construction, engineering,
architecture and technology professionals to create free-standing
themed structures using a maximum of 1,000 empty Girl Scout Cookie
boxes. This year’s exhibit theme is “Trailblazing Women” and
will depict transformative women who helped shape the world we live in
such as, Marie Curie, Amelia Earhart, Aretha Franklin, Katherine
Johnson, Rani Lakshmibai, Nancy Lieberman, Rita Moreno, Selena
Quintanilla, and Sally Ride. Partnering companies include: Balfour
Beatty Construction, Cisco Systems, Inc., HDR, Inc., HKS, Inc., Jacobs
Engineering Group Inc., Kimley Horn and Associates, Inc., P&L Paving,
Omniplan, Inc., and Texas Instruments, Inc. Judging will take place on
Monday, March 2, and winners will be announced at an awards ceremony
in April at Galleria Dallas. The public can also vote on a People’s
Choice Award by scanning a structure’s QR code.
