registration information. This program teaches candidates the
knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatics
emergencies. Successful candidates will receive LIFEGUARD, First Aid
and CPR/AED certifications valid for 2 years. The Red Cross LIFEGUARD
PROGRAM IS A BLENDED LEARNING FORMAT WITH APPROXIMATELY 7 HOURS OF
ONLINE MATERIALS COMPLETED PRIOR TO ATTENDING THE IN-person sessions.A
prerequisite swim test must be completed prior to registering for
LIFEGUARD TRAINING. Email aquatics@amld.org to set-up a time to
complete the swim test.Prerequisites to COURSE ENTRY: 1. At least 15
years of age prior to the last scheduled class date. 2. Complete a
swim-tread-swim sequence without stopping to rest. Jump into deep
water and fully submerge, resurface then swim 150 yards using
breaststroke, freestyle, or a combination of the two. Goggles are
allowed. Maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes
treading water using only the legs. Swim 50 yards using freestyle,
breaststroke or a combination of both. 3. 20-yard swim to 12 ft.
depth, submerge and retrieve 10 lb brick, swim on back to starting
point with both hands holding the brick. Exit pool without using
ladder or stairs. No goggles. Timed event 1 minute 40 seconds.
