RN’s will obtain the unique body of knowledge necessary for stroke
nursing practice, increase overall awareness of stroke care, and
support the hospital and the stroke program’s mission of providing
excellence in healthcare.
DESIRED LEARNING OUTCOMES:
* Review the anatomy, physiology & etiology related to stroke
syndromes.
* Identify the interventions available during the hyper-acute phase
of caring for a stroke patient.
* Discuss the acute care needs of the stroke patient.
* Describe the importance of post-acute care for the stroke patient.
* State the importance of primary and secondary preventative care for
stroke.
