Low Sensory Jam Austin, TX - Austin, TX 2019

Sat 24 August 2019
1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Ended

Join us for a free, semi-unstructured, individualized-learning, creativity-inspiring experience for neurodiverse teens with autism, Asperger's, sensory processing and other related challenges. No experience required! There is no strict agenda. There will be multiple creative coding stations. When students arrive, we'll describe each of the stations, and then you and your child will be free to choose where you want to spend your time. This gives your child the opportunity to work on the projects he or she finds personally interesting. Some kids will float around, spending time at many stations and working on different challenges, while others will choose to spend the majority of their time working on one project. We welcome this sort of self-directed learning. Each station will have volunteer instructors and assistants to guide you in how to use the tool, and then to support your student as he or she thinks creatively and starts coding. You will need to bring your own laptop. If you don't have access to a laptop, we will have some to borrow on a first come, first served basis. *Please note that an adult (preferably a parent or grandparent) must stay with your child during this event. This is a collaborative experience and a chance to connect with your child around digital technology. We promise parents will have fun, too.
