Hailing from Northern California Bob Appel's country roots are rather
unusual, but he was exposed to the neotraditional country sounds of
the late 80s (Alan Jackson, Randy Travis, George Strait, Dwight
Yoakam, and Aaron Tippin) and was hooked. The poetic story-telling,
simple musical structure, and heartfelt vocal performance evident in
these songs, and to understand that there was a common source of
inspiration based deep in the traditions - made him fell in love with
traditional country music. After several visits to Nashville he was
disillusioned with the sounds coming from the shores of the Cumberland
River and after one visit to Austin found his calling in Texas. Since
2010 he plays everything from dance halls, old Opry shows to
honky-tonks and beer joints trying to keep this rich tradition alive.
