Easter Sunday Worship "He is Risen!"

EASTER IS THE CELEBRATION OF THE RESURRECTION OF OUR LORD! The origin of the word EASTER IS NOT FULLY KNOWN BUT some suggest that it may refer to the fact that the sun rises in the East. The day of EASTER IS DETERMINED AS THE SUNDAY after the first full moon of spring. The color for EASTER IS WHITE.  EASTER IS FIFTY DAYS OF CELEBRATION. Forty days after the resurrection the church celebrates the Ascension of Our Lord as it is written in the Gospel of Luke. On the fiftieth day the Church celebrates the day of Pentecost when the promised Holy Spirit moves the apostles to begin their ministry as the Church. The color for Pentecost is red representing the fire of the Holy Spirit.
