Come join us for a panel discussion with Data Scientists who’ll be sharing their stories on what it took for them to become a data scientist, why they chose this field and what they do day to day in their current roles.
There are many ways to becoming a data scientist, and your journey is your own. In this engaging and intimate event, you’ll be given the chance to meet and ask questions directly of our data science panelists and learn how you can get hired as a data scientist one day!

About the Speakers
Sheetal Dhar:

Sheetal Dhar is a Data Scientist at Fjord (Design and Innovation center for Accenture) and has 20+ years of experience in the Technology industry. Before coming to Galvanize to build expertise in Data Science technologies, she founded and served as a Chief Strategist to McEinnon & Company, a San Francisco based Business Intelligence Company where she helped design, build and implement Business Intelligence and Analytics roadmaps for clients ranging from mid-size to Fortune 100 companies. In addition to various Business Strategy and Technologist roles she held in her prior career, she most recently also served as the Vice President of Product Management for a Data Warehousing company in California, where she grew a team from 5 to 150 onshore and offshore consultants, built an analytics tool/product from concept to market and implemented a successful Business Strategy roadmap for the company.
Currently at Fjord, she is working on a project with an Aerospace client, where she is using Machine Learning in combination with Human Centered thinking to solve business problems.
Sheetal has a Bachelors in Computer Science from India. She is passionate about several social causes, helping other women and is actively involved in various forums and groups.
Tyler Watson:

Tyler Watson was part of the Galvanize Data Science Immersive cohort from October 2017 - January 2018 and has been a data scientist at Walmart Tech in Austin since April 2018. Prior to coming to Galvanize, he worked as an English teacher in Seoul, South Korea; a Congressional intern in DC, and an international development consultant in DC and a variety of other developing countries. Tyler had project management and data analytics experience before becoming a Data Scientist, but nothing that could really be called coding or data science. He now focuses on applied NLP at Walmart Tech and runs a company-wide Data Science Club that trains interested employees in data science topics. Tyler has a BA in Political Science from Duke University. He is currently pursuing a MS in Computer Science at Georgia Tech in between hikes and concerts around Austin.
Rachel Brynsvold:

Rachel graduated from the Galvanize Data Science Immersive program in October 2017, which she attended to launch her transition from a career in product engineering to one in the exciting field of data science! She works as a Data Scientist at Walmart Technology in Austin, TX. She has presented her work at PyTexas, and at several meetup groups and events, including Women in Data Science, PyLadies, and the Galvanize DSI Alumni meetup. Prior to Galvanize, Rachel spent seven years working in various product engineering and leadership roles at 3M and Austin product startups. She has a BS in chemical engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
Kelsey Nowell:

Kelsey Nowell is currently a Data Scientist at Walmart Technology. She has a data analytics background in information management consulting and in implementing software products on cloud infrastructure across industries and cultures. When not working on technological transformation projects, she can typically be found at one of Austin’s live music venues. Kelsey received her bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and is a Galvanize Data Science alum.
