This training hopes to educate mental health professionals in the Central Texas area who come into contact with or treat families during pregnancy and in the postpartum period. The training will cover the following learning objectives:
- Understand and identify the diagnoses associated with perinatal mood disorders including psychiatric emergencies.
- Learn and discuss the many physical and biological responses, cultural beliefs, and social expectations related to pregnancy and the postpartum period and their impacts on a person's mental health.
- Identify psychiatric emergencies in the postpartum period.
- Review multiple ethical considerations for working with this population
- Collaborate and network with like-minded mental health providers in the area to better serve families in the Central Texas community.
In addition to learning these objectives, participants will receive:
- Up to 6 CEUs for LPC or Social Work licensure
- 1 CEU in Ethics
- Lunch (on-site)
