Future Engineers (Wednesday AM Class) Future Engineers (Monday AM Class) Is your student building and creating structures using popular LEGO sets? Students using LEGO elements for fun and learning the best ways to use different Lego Elements will expand the students’ knowledge and development. In this workshop, students’ will learn to add their knowledge of LEGO building equipment and engineering principles. We will start the journey of LEGO movements with the motors and introduce gear ratios and how to manipulate the gears. Over the duration of the course, Students’ will learn to: Learn the difference between the friction and non- friction parts Determine which gears to use for more power and more speed Trouble shoot when a build is not working properly Learn to work with others while brainstorming Identify equipment for builds This workshop is designed to build on the knowledge the students have and to transition into robotics. Robotics is more than just science because it is also a terrific way to inspire our future generation to think about how to solve world problems one piece at a time. Each student will be encouraged to share in their experience. Our goal is not only to teach but to inspire. A “Future Engineer” Technic LEGO Kit" valued at $200 typically includes a combination of Technic elements and specialized parts designed for building advanced mechanical models. Although the exact contents may vary, here’s a potential breakdown of what such a kit could include: Components 1. Technic Beams and Panels: A variety of beams and panels for structural builds (long and short beams, connectors, and angle pieces). 2. Axles and Gears: Multiple sizes of axles, bushings, and a range of gears for creating mechanical functions like rotations and lifts. 3. Motors (if electronic): A powered motor or servo motor for adding movement to creations. 4. Wheels and Treads: Sets of wheels or track treads for building vehicles or robots and much more!
