ERIN CLULEY GALLERY is pleased to announce a solo exhibition by RILEY
HOLLOWAY titled HOME opening on Saturday, April 4th, 2020 at 150
Manufacturing Street, Suite 210, with a reception from 5:00 - 8:00 pm,
and on display through May 9th. Riley Holloway’s work begins with
the individual. An observer of people, he is inspired by the
personalities, conversations, and unique looks of those with whom he
comes in contact. HOME takes a more introspective approach to
Holloway’s storytelling. Through paintings, works on paper, and
small sculpture, Holloway highlights the people and elements involved
in raising his family. Holloway makes reference to the widely known
African proverb “It takes a village to raise a child”. Realizing
the sincere truth of this simple statement, Holloway captures everyday
moments of life and simultaneously remembers those who are gone.
Holloway’s exhibition is a personal narrative – telling the
meaningful story of life at home. Often accompanied by his written
thoughts and graphic text, Holloway’s works are made with a combined
approach of drawing and painting. Elements of charcoal and graphite
lines are accompanied by traditional methods of oil painting. The end
result finds visitors confronted with works which are unique yet
familiar. Holloway’s paintings are rich in storytelling and free
from constraint. Holloway received a Nasher Sculpture Center Artist
Microgrant in 2019 to support production for HOME. About Riley
