The West End of downtown Dallas has a rich architectural and cultural
history. The birthplace of Dallas, it encompasses the earliest plots
of land settled by John Neely Bryan and others beginning in the
1840’s. With the arrival of the railroads in 1872, it became the
center of a new and important commercial center–the warehouses that
remain to this day hearken back to that time. Today, it serves as a
juxtaposition of past and present – it is still the center of county
government, but with important architectural reminders of important
times in Dallas’ past, including the tragic events of November 22,
1963. Join US as we discuss the city’s first commercial historic
