My Ride DALLAS and the SENIOR HUNGER ACTION TEAM INVITE YOU TO BRAINSTORM WITH US ABOUT THE INTERSECTION OF SENIOR HUNGER & TRANSPORTATION! Seniors tell us that access to transportation has a lot to do with their being able to eat well. Many seniors struggle with accessing healthy food due to the city's transportation system and the location of grocery stores. Lack of access to transportation options can cut seniors off from many food access points and leave them isolated in their homes. The cost of food and transportation can ultimately determine whether or not they go to the grocery store. This is a forum and opportunity for transportation providers, senior services providers and senior food security stakeholders to share with each other what the landscape looks like for seniors at the intersection of these concerns. * What is available currently and where? * What are the rules for eligibility and the options to sign-up? * What kinds of outreach practices are underway to educate seniors and their families/caregivers about what's available and how to access? Please join us to brainstorm together and consider what we might be able to do together to improve transportation and food security for older adults in our communities!
