In love with Shakespeare and the actress who portrayed Juliet on stage, the ever impetuous Berlioz created his “dramatic symphony." It is an opulent fusion of orchestra, vocal soloists and choral forces that let his talents as a musical colorist and orchestrator shine. does not follow Shakespeare’s tragedy exactly, but rather creates a reimagining of familiar scenes, characters and emotions, with the passionate love music at its heart. The concert will highlight mezzo-soprano, Stéphanie D’oustrac; tenor, John Tessier and bass-baritone, Laurent Naouri. The concert will be conducted by Joshua Haberman.
