Dr. Franchesca Nunez is an Assistant Professor at The University of
Texas at El Paso and a credentialed dementia specialist. Dr. Nunez
teaches advance pathophysiology in the graduate nursing program. She
has over 25 years of Registered Nurse experience consisting of direct
patient care, clinical nurse educator, and academic educator. She has
spent over 25 years providing direct patient care to individuals with
dementia and their family and educating future healthcare providers
about pathophysiology of dementia and care of individuals with
dementia. Her scholarship and research focus are measurement,
psychometrics, cognition, mild cognitive impairment, and dementia
(primarily Alzheimer’s disease). In 2017, Dr. Nunez was awarded the
NLN Nancy Langston Research Award. In addition, she was awarded the
Taunton Scholar Award in 2015.
Alexandra Alba, START Coordinator/CIS
Alexandra began working with chronic individuals with physical,
psychiatric, and/or developmental disabilities in 2013. She received
her master’s degree in Rehab Counseling in 2017 from the University
of Texas at El Paso. She has been working with the El Paso START
program since March 2018. On her spare time, Alexandra enjoys spending
time with her family and friends.
