ANGÉLICA RAHE (pronounced “ray”) has a musical journey that spans
the globe. After touring across the U.S., Europe and Latin America
with Columbian-American R&B sensation, Kali Uchis, as her musical
director, guitarist and backup vocalist (including a North America run
opening for Lana Del Rey), Angélica is ready to put her own talent as
a musician and songwriter on display.
Born of a Spanish musician father and French-American theater actress
mother, Angélica split her childhood between Spain, Japan and landed
in the U.S. as a young teenager. Her arrival in the U.S. came in time
for her to fully embrace the singer-songwriter vibes of popular
artists such as John Mayer and Alicia Keys. Combining her newfound
American musical sensibilities with more worldly idols of her
upbringing such as Sade and Buika, Angélica’s music easily blends
the essence of a talented singer-songwriter and that of a soulful and
sensual songstress.
Love, Translated, her debut Spanish-language EP, now available on
Apple Music and Spotify, includes four original songs self-written and
recorded between Los Angeles, Miami, and Austin where she recorded
with Grammy Award winner Adrian Quesada. The EP also includes a moving
duet with Puerto Rican singer-songwriter, Cosme, that will have
listeners likening the ballad to “Falling Slowly” by The Swell
Season or “Best Part” by Daniel Caesar and H.E.R.
Love, Covered, available here, is a collection of Angélica’s
renditions of four of her favorite love songs: "Lady" by D'Angelo,
"Lost Without U" by Robin Thicke, "Sober" by Childish Gambino, and
"Prototype" by Andre 3000 of Outkast. The second, Love, Translated, is
her Spanish-language debut set for release in late October 2018, in
which she easily ebbs and flows between the Spanish musical roots of
her father and the soulful tones of her idols including Erykah Badu
and D’Angelo.
While these EPs will serve as an impressive display in her vocal range
and skills as a guitarist, it's the intimacy and sensuality in her
lyrics that will have fans likening the Spanish-American singer to
both established and buzzworthy singers and songwriters ranging from
Jorge Drexler to SZA.
