Fly in and meet your fellow travelers in Buenos Aires (air
arrangements not included). Then we board the amazing Celebrity
Eclipse on February 1.
SHORE TRIP PHOTOGRAPHY LOCATIONS:
Ushuaia Shore Trip - We will start by departing Ushuaia pier along the
highway heading north. This scenic drive takes you into the Tierra del
Fuego mountain range where you will see the amazing Lake Fagnano and
Lake Escondido. Travel through the valley of the Olivia River, passing
the Five Brothers mountain range. As you ascend, the drive gets more
spectacular! Enjoy an incredible view of Lake Escondido plus lots of
other photo opportunities. Views along the way include old sawmills,
beaver lodges, forests and sweeping vistas.
Puerto Madryn Shore Trip - The drive to Punta Tombo is 2½ hours each
way, but definitely worthwhile for the penguin lovers. Between
September and April, up to half a million magellanic penguins come to
this site to incubate their eggs and prepare their offspring for
migration. In fact, this is the largest such colony in South America.
Penguin couples stand in front of their nests, protecting the eggs
from birds and other predators, and occasionally one adult goes to the
sea for food. Other wildlife encountered in the area includes sea
birds, rheas and guanacos.
Because these penguins are accustomed to humans, you will be able to
walk among the thousands of nests and marvel at this wonder of nature.
Montevideo Shore Trip - Montevideo is an eclectic mix of architectural
influences, with amazing buildings dating back to very prosperous
times.
The city is really an open-air exhibition of monuments, sculptures and
museums, displaying the wonderful work of Uruguayan artists and
architects. Travel into the heart of the Old Town at Independencia
Square. From there, you will walk to see the Palacio Salvo and to
enter the magnificent Teatro Solis. Continue to Torres Garcia Museum,
housing the works of one the best-known Uruguayan artists. At Matriz
Square you will find the cathedral, the banking quarter and the
Gurvich Museum. Passing by the 1908 Casa Rivera Museum, once a private
residence but now a National Historic Monument.

Cape Horn, Schollart Channel, Paradise Bay, Gerlache Strait, and
Elephant Island.
