Asia Society Texas Center hosts a special tasting event in celebration
of National Hot Tea Month , in partnership with McHugh Tea Room in
Bellaire. Attendees will learn about and taste teas from around the
globe, including varieties of white, green, matcha, oolong, black, and
dark tea. Learn about their similarities and differences, plus how to
best brew each style to achieve optimum flavor. Tickets include the
tastings, sweets, tea-infused snacks, and a gift tea set for each
guest. Hosts & Instructors Kim McHugh, owner of McHugh Tea Room and
the only certified tea blending master in Texas, will provide an
interactive presentation on the history of tea, its multicultural
journeys, and tea tasting traditions. Learn about the health benefits
of tea and how tea can be used to nourish the body. Nina Shimaguchi,
Asia Society Texas Center’s Japanese Outreach Initiative
coordinator, will demonstrate a traditional Japanese tea ceremony,
after which participants will try their hand at making matcha tea.
Admission Tickets are $75 for individuals; $100 for two people. Asia
Society members are $50 for individuals; $75 for two people. Click
