From HOUSTON, With Love is a collaborative pop-up art exhibit on
display for a limited time.Prauper Studios in partnership with Midway,
The Heist Agency, Rukaz, NAMI and Art Houston Magazine, presents a
60-day collaborative exhibition entitled From Houston, With Love
(FHWL) featuring over 20 local and globally recognized visual artists
from Houston, TX running from June 18, 2021 through August, 15, 2021
at what was formerly known as Forever 21, in Downtown Houston’s
GreenStreet (1201 Main Street Houston, TX 77002). FHWL will include
works that exemplify Houston culture through the eyes of the featured
artists.
The 60-day gallery style exhibition takes advantage of the 23,000 sqft
space that the GreenStreet 2-story retail-turned-venue behemoth has to
offer. Each artist presented had the opportunity to develop their own
displays in collaboration with Prauper Studios.
Multidisciplinary artist Cary Fagan takes pride in investigating the
potentials of a more interactive art form such as creating pieces with
strong social messages and the desire to connect with people through
different socioeconomic backgrounds.
As a multidisciplinary artist who has photographed for Apple, Nike,
Glossier, CRWN Mag’s cover of Issa Rae, and recently writing and
directing her first short film Black Women Are Worthy—Deun Ivory has
carved her own lane as a rare breed regarding her ability to
effortlessly express her vision through various creative mediums.
Donkeeboy has wowed art enthusiasts with his outstanding paintings and
apparel depicting pop culture and has hosted and participated in
hundreds of shows since 2010 - including Art Basel in Miami, several
shows in Los Angeles, and countless shows in Houston. For this
exhibit, Donkeeboy has joined forces with NAMI (National Association
of Mental Illness) in collaboration with Prauper Studios to create an
immersive installation that highlights and brings awareness to mental
illness in the community.
Live photographer Greg Noire has captured performances and
behind-the-scenes shots of artists like Drake, Chance the Rapper,
Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino at various concerts and festivals
such as Coachella, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, the Voodoo Music
+ Arts Experience. As one of the most sought after concert
photographers in the industry, his images are frequently picked up by
the press and he continues to shoot for some of the biggest names. For
the exhibit, Greg will bring the main stage to life through his photos
and a collaborative installation curated by Greg and built by Prauper.
Shelbi Nicole, a Houston-based artist, designer, and muralist, will
make a grand entrance in head-turning fashion as the renowned
artist’s work will appear on a three-wheeled Polaris Slingshot.
Known for its dynamic styling and customization capabilities, the
Batmobile-like vehicle will serve as the ultimate canvas for
Nicole’s art.
