ABOUT THE WORKSHOP: WRITE TO CHANGE THE WORLDOur programs are based on
time-tested models of transformational learning. Games, high stakes
scenarios, and live experiments challenge participants to think in new
and bigger ways about what participants know, why it matters, and how
to use it. We explore the source of credibility; the patterns and
elements of persuasion; the difference between being “right” and
being effective; how to preach beyond the choir; and how to think
bigger about what you know—to have more impact in the WORLD.
Participants emerge with concrete results (op-ed drafts and more), and
access to our national network of journalist mentors for individual
follow up. THE MENTOR-EDITOR PROGRAM is our high-impact
micro-mentoring program, in which experienced journalists volunteer to
connect with and give feedback to new and promising voices. If you
use the Mentor-Editor program
[https://www.theopedproject.org/mentor-editors]within one month of
taking an OpEd Project seminar, we will automatically extend your
access for two additional months (three months in total).
Please complete the registration form on the next page to help us
serve you better. The OpEd Project is an "everyone" project. We
endeavor to have everyone in our rooms because we believe the world's
conversation is smarter when everyone is speaking. We ask all of the
questions that we do to hold ourselves accountable - to make sure
we're doing our best to reach everyone. If you are purchasing this
ticket for someone else, please fill in as much information as you
can, and have them login to complete.
We'll be heading to a happy hour immediately following the seminar
from approximately 5:30-7:00pm. You're welcome to invite your friends,
family, and colleagues. You will receive an e-mail confirming all of
the details the week prior to the seminar date.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
We welcome everyone, across color, creed, class, gender, and beyond.
We especially welcome underrepresented voices. This program is equally
suitable for those with or without publishing experience.
WHY THIS MATTERS
The voices and opinions we hear in the world come from an extremely
narrow slice of society: mostly white, privileged, Western, and
overwhelmingly male. What could we accomplish if we invested in all
our brain power?
SCHOLARSHIPS
The OpEd Project works to ensure that at least 2 - 3 scholarship
recipients attend every workshop. If you, or someone in your network
would benefit from this opportunity, please visit our
website theopedproject.org/scholarships
[http://theopedproject.org/scholarships] and submit a scholarship
application.
ABOUT US
The OpEd Project [http://theopedproject.org] is a think tank and
leadership organization that accelerates the ideas and impact of
underrepresented voices, including women. We are a community of
journalists and thought leaders who actively share knowledge,
resources and connections across color, creed, class, sexuality,
gender and beyond. We have been featured in most major media. We have
stunning results. We believe the best ideas, regardless of where they
come from, should have a chance to be heard and change the world.
