End-of-Semester Move-Out Donation Drive at SMU

Goodwill Industries of Dallas and Southern Methodist University’s Residence Life are teaming up to make end-of-semester move-outs both convenient and eco-friendly. As final exams wrap up and dorm rooms empty out, students face the annual challenge of moving out—and Goodwill Industries of Dallas is seizing this perfect window to turn end-of-semester clean-outs into community goodwill. From Friday, May 9 to Saturday, May 10, and again Tuesday, May 13 to Thursday, May 15 (8:00 AM–4:00 PM each day), donation trucks will be stationed at key SMU locations for easy drop-off of gently used clothing, shoes, and household items. This timing not only spares perfectly usable goods from the landfill but also fuels Goodwill’s career and training services for North Texans. This effort diverts nearly 29,000 pounds from the landfill.
