Learn how to TEACH FOR PROFICIENCY - guiding your students to interact in the language, using it to communicate about real ideas from day one of class. Learn how to BUILD LITERACY from the very first days of class - co-writing meaningful texts in a gradual release of responsibility model and following up with reading extension activities, and how to support students in interpreting culturally-authentic resources that gradually increase in complexity and form more and more of the reading focus through the years of language study, as students' interpretation abilities grow. Learn how to plan a two-day lesson sequence that builds an "on ramp" to working with CULTURALLY-AUTHENTIC RESOURCES such as websites, infographics, articles, and videos. Learn FOUNDATIONAL SKILLS to SPEAK COMPREHENSIBLY to your students from the first day of class, so that you can better meet ACTFL's recommendation of 90% language use and the ACTFL and TEKS central standard - Communication. Learn a DAILY INSTRUCTIONAL FRAMEWORK that you can use each day to easily and confidently plan lessons that integrate the ACTFL/TEKS standards of Cultures, Connections, Comparisons, and Communities into the central Communication standard, and engage students in listening, reading, writing, and speaking in a guided release of responsibility model.
