Paralyzed Rodeo Star and Tremonton local Amberley Snyder set to speak
at The Family Place's STEPPIN' UP EVENT, raising awareness during
Child Abuse Prevention MonthThe Family Place Utah will display
hundreds of children’s shoes on the stairs of the Historic Cache
County Courthouse in order to raise awareness during Child Abuse
Prevention Month. Each pair of shoes represents a substantiated case
of child abuse or neglect right here in Cache Valley.
This year’s Steppin’ Up event will be backed by some serious star
power, as paralyzed rodeo star and Tremonton local Amberly Snyder has
agreed to speak at the event. Amberley’s tenacity and perseverance
has inspired many.
Amberley fell in love with horses at a young age, leading her to win
the World all Around Championship in 2009 with the National Britches
Rodeo Association. Just one year later she tragically broke her spine
in an automobile crash. After becoming paralyzed from the waist down,
Amberley was told by doctors not to get her hopes up about ever riding
a horse again. Miraculously she was back competing in the rodeo with a
seatbelt strapping her to her saddle just 18 months after the
accident.
As the only professional paralyzed barrel racer in the United States,
Amberley continues to compete and has qualified for two Wilderness
Circuit Finals as well as the American Rodeo.
