---Instructor: Mike J. Baker, Jr.---This class is an introduction to
film and television acting. Each week you will learn one or more
aspects/techniques of acting for film and television. The eight-week
class will encompass a whole range of techniques to include crossing
camera, letting scenes breathe, pre-beat, specificity, spontaneity,
listening, behavior, containment, and the intuitive response. Mike
will also employ Harold Guskins technique of Taking it Off the Page to
ground you in the realism needed for film and television your real
self. Each student will perfect at least three movie scenes and three
movie monologues. Since just the classes themselves are on Zoom, Mike
will record them and share with the class each week so you can track
your progress. At the end of the 8 weeks, your selected scene and
monologue will be professionally lit and taped with two cameras at an
Old Town Alexandria location; either the Atrium or Gadsbys Tavern. You
will be provided a flash drive with high resolution files for use on
your website or You Tube. Mike will also give you a two-minute sizzle
reel taken from your monologue and scene to upload to casting
directors who want to see two-minutes of your work. With the
increasing demand for video reels, you will be in the forefront. The
class may also feature a trip on Saturday December 4th to Actors
Connection in New York for a Master Class with a prominent Casting
Director. Covid-19 permitting. (This all day trip is not included in
the cost of the class.) Fridays 7:30 9:30 p.m. 8 classes online &
final scenes and monologues taped on location Sunday, December 19 from
noon-5pm. No class Thanksgiving weekend November 26. Read instructor's
