The Ride : Detail (Must Read)
***********************
For your riding pleasure NoVA CBG presents the 9th Annual CBG s
Halloween "BOO"cycle Ride.
This is probably the most "feel good" ride that exists in NoVA CBG.
Parents and children alike cheer and applaud at the return of the
Annual BOOcycle ride. If you ve done it before, you know what I mean.
If you haven t, come on out and experience it first hand and I promise
you will not be disappointed. The ride route will be approximately 17
miles at a Halloween pace.
1) You must be on time for the ride: Arrive at 5:30pm, Speech at
5:45pm, and we roll at 6:00pm sharp (I strongly advise you to leave
work early). We have to leave early to maximize the number of "trick
or treaters" that will see us as sunset is at 6:09pm.
2) Decorate your bike in lights and yourself in costume: It s a
HALLOWEEN BICYCLE PARADE.
* REQUIRED: You will need to get some battery powered lights for your
bicycle (do NOT use glow sticks).
* Not Required (but highly advised) : Dress up in costume if you want
to. Of course the more creative the better. Just don t let any of this
interfere with your ability to ride safely.
3) Decorate your bike and yourself BEFORE arriving to the ride: We can
t wait for you to put lights on your bike or work on your costume at
City Hall. If you need prep time, show up earlier than 5:30pm.
4) YOU MUST HAVE A LIGHT THAT IS AT LEAST 100+ LUMEN and HAVE IT
CHARGED UP: Please please please do this. If you don t know what the
difference is between a "light you can see with" and a "light to be
seen by" go talk to your bike store of choice, they will help you.

ALEXANDRIA CITY HALL
301 King St.
ALEXANDRIA, VA 22314
GPS: https://goo.gl/maps/N6tkF5YcCQp [https://goo.gl/maps/N6tkF5YcCQp]
We will meet at the fountain @ Alexandria City Hall.
Please note that there is usually ample parking in the garage located
directly below City Hall for $5.00 all evening. However, give yourself
plenty of extra time to find other parking if the garage below city
hall is full.

The Ride AFTER THE RIDE:
***********************
I would like to do "something" ... even if it is Hot Cider and Donuts
in the parking garage under city hall. I will put on my thinking cap.

Ride Level Chart
***********************
NoVA CBG tries to accommodate all levels of cyclists by offering
different types/levels of rides. We just ask that you come to the ride
that suits your current riding ability the best.
* Introductory Level: If you haven t ridden a bike in a number of
years (or are uncertain of your abilities on a bicycle).
* Beginner Level: You can ride for 10+ miles at a pace of 10+ to 12+
mph with potentially minor hills involved.
* Medium Level: You can ride for 20+ miles at a pace of 13+ to 15+ mph
with potentially moderate hills involved.
* Advanced Level: You can ride for 20++ miles at a pace of 15+ mph
with potentially major hills involved.
Both Medium and Advanced Levels might require handling various
challenges such as reading cue sheets, using a Garmin or navigation
app, night riding, out of town travel, or any other odd cycling
situations.

understanding that cycling is an inherently dangerous activity. When
coming to the meetup you do so voluntarily and are ready and able to
participate in the ride as described under the conditions of the day.
Be on time for the "pre-ride" preparation. If you do not attend the
pre-ride preparation you will not be allowed to participate on the
ride. Again, no exceptions.
