'Scuse US while we whip this out: BLAZING SADDLES IS COMING TO
ARLINGTON CINEMA & Drafthouse! Mels Brooks's legendary 1974 comedy
stars Cleavon Little as Bart, an African-American railroad worker
who's been swept up in a plan to dissolve the town of Rock Ridge so a
new railroad can go through. After the Attorney General (Harvey
Korman) sends thugs in to terrorize Rock Ridge, the Governor (Mel
Brooks) installs Bart as the Sheriff, intending to create enough chaos
to destroy the town. Once the townspeople realize that the new Sheriff
is...um, "near"...it seems certain that Rock Ridge will tear itself
apart. Luckily, Bart is clever enough to trick the townspeople out of
their own racism and set up a plan that will save the town. Also
starring Madeline Kahn as Lili von Shtupp ("The Teutonic Titwillow")
and Gene Wilder as the Jim, the Waco Kid.
