Description Bike Ride of The Historic Dismal Swamp Canal Trail Join us for a new family-friendly program where we explore local history on a bike! May is National Bike Month and National Historic Preservation Month. We are excited to celebrate these activities together with a 4-mile bike ride on the Dismal Swamp Canal Trail. We will visit local landmarks to discuss the history and architecture that is unique to Chesapeake. The ride will depart from the Ballahack Boat Ramp at Noon, 12:00 p.m. We will stop to discuss the Superintendent's House, visit the Cornland School, and then proceed to Douglas Road. We encourage participants to bring their own bikes and personal safety equipment. This program is limited to 25 participants. Limited number of bikes are available to rent.
