will be EIGHT PRACTICES/MEET-UPS: four (4) track-based workouts and
four (4) low-intensity group neighborhood runs. All kids who finish
the program will receive a medal. SCHEDULE: Thursdays from
5:30-6:15pm. April 3rd, 10th, 24th; May 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, and
29th. _Note there will be no practice on April 17th, which is over
APS's spring break._ We will alternate weeks between a
higher-intensity track-based workout and low-key neighborhood groups
runs of 1.5-3.5 miles. _**If the track is closed due to a spring
sports event, we may switch days with a group_ _run_. * Kids ages 10 &
over may run without a parent/guardian, though they must stick with at
least one adult for neighborhood routes; if your child is under 10, I
would ask that you come along for those runs. * Pace for group runs
will be a relaxed conversation pace - if you run with your kid(s) and
want to go faster, have at it. Pace for track workouts will vary
according to the workout, but the kids can expect some sprinting
and/or strides! * Parents run along for free - you don't need to
register and run at your own risk, of course, but the more, the
merrier! * The kids will all receive a small snack/treat at the end of
each meeting - if you prefer your child not have that, please let Kate
know. Track work may include: proper warm up technique, basic strength
moves, running drills, form work, sprint repeats, endurance laps,
and/or practice races. Parents are encouraged to join both track work
and the group runs!
