CERTIFIED SCRUM PRODUCT OWNER (CSPO) TRAINING Excella’s Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) training focuses on the Product Owner role and covers concepts in the areas of providing a vision, requirements, planning, story maps, innovation games, product backlog grooming and prioritization, splitting stories, forecasting and tracking. These concepts are presented in a highly interactive and collaborative format with elements of lecture, classroom discussion, exercises, games, and video interwoven throughout the class. USER STORY MAPS AND INNOVATION GAMES® This course will also cover release planning using story maps as well as the modern PRODUCT INNOVATION METHOD, Innovation Games [http://www.innovationgames.com/]. Innovation Games are a collection of qualitative research and problem-solving techniques, based on the collaborative facilitation of customers, colleagues, partners and the community at large. The techniques include both open-ended and more focused methods for achieving actionable insights and results. WHO SHOULD ATTEND The class is great for current Scrum product owners, business analysts, ScrumMasters, testers or anyone involved with creating requirements, gathering needs, and managing products. NOTE: The CSPO course assumes that attendees already have a basic understanding of Scrum via our Agile and Scrum in a Day course, a Certified ScrumMaster course, or equivalent Scrum experience. WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU Upon completion of the course, students will be credentialed as Certified Scrum Product Owners. Additionally, this course counts towards 14 PMI® Professional Development Units (PDUs). PMI is a registered mark of the Project Management Institute, Inc. COURSE OUTLINE This course starts with an overview of the Agile and Scrum frameworks. From there, the curriculum includes: * What a Product Owner Does * What to Look for in a Product Owner * Vision, Mission and Charter * Product Roadmaps and Story Maps * Project Scope via Product Backlog * User Stories and Agile Specifications * Prioritization Techniques * Product Backlog Grooming and Splitting User Stories * Estimation and Forecasting * Release Planning * Tracking Progress ABOUT YOUR TRAINER RICHARD CHENG, Director of Training at Excella, provides training and consulting services to commercial and federal clients in the Washington, DC area. Richard coaches, mentors, and trains clients in understanding and implementing Agile and Scrum. A graduate of Virginia Tech, Richard has authored several publications on project management, presented at Agile and PMI sponsored industry events, is a member of Mensa, and holds certifications including CERTIFIED SCRUM TRAINER (CST), CERTIFIED SCRUMMASTER (CSM), CERTIFIED SCRUM PRODUCT OWNER (CSPO), CERTIFIED SCRUM PROFESSIONAL (CSP), CERTIFIED LESS PRACTITIONER, Project Management Professional (PMP), PMI Agile CERTIFIED PRACTITIONER (PMI-ACP), and SAFe Program Consultant (SPC). Free parking is available on-site. CANCELLATION POLICY Students submitting cancellation requests 10 business days or more prior to the start of the course are entitled to a full refund. Students submitting cancellation requests less than 10 business days prior to the start of the course will be issued a credit toward a future Excella training course. The credit will be equal to the amount paid for the initial course less any applicable fees. Should the organizer cancel the course for any reason, each registered student will be refunded 100% of the registration cost they paid.
