Please join us at Richmond's brand new 1717 Innovation Center for food
and drinks to celebrate CrowdLobby's Kickstarter launch! A short
presentation about CrowdLobby will be given. Friends, colleagues, and
family are more than welcome - the more the merrier! We look forward
to seeing you.WHAT IS CROWDLOBBY?
The American government is beholden to corporate and special
interests. Each year, more and more laws fall prey to the will of
corporations over those of the American people. Corporations and
special interests maintain their grip on our political system through
political contributions and lobbying. Lobbying is an enormously
effective tool and studies have shown that for each $1 spent on
lobbying, corporations can expect an average return of $220! Who
wouldn't want that kind of power? WE WANT TO GIVE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE
ACCESS TO LOBBYING, by pooling together lots of small contributions
into bigger piles of money for issues that We the People care about!
Through crowdfunding, we can pool our money and power together and
have a lobbyist represent us! Because its time that We the People were
properly represented.
WHY THE KICKSTARTER?
Last year, CrowdLobby launched a beta website that catered to
state-level issues. We quickly realized that in order to showcase
CrowdLobby to the country, we would need a new iteration of the
website that caters to federal politics and all 50 states! In order to
build it, we realized we would need to raise $50,000. We first turned
to private investors, but quickly realized how ironic it would be to
fund the People's platform with a few people's money - so now we turn
to the Crowd! We hope to use the Kickstarter to raise the funds for
the next iteration of our website, while also proving that our concept
can build a following. We will use the funds from the Kickstarter to
build the next iteration of the website over the summer and plan to
release it to the public before this year's Midterm elections!
