Created Equal Film Series in honor of Grady W. Powell: Won’t You Be
My Neighbor
Since the 1960s, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood has entertained
millions of viewers, both young and old alike, with themes of
equality, peace, and self-respect. Join us to celebrate this
groundbreaking show and its creator, Fred Rogers, as we screen the
film Won’t You Be My Neighbor.
This incredible documentary about Fred’s life by Academy
Award-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville, will connect with generations
who grew up hearing the timeless message “you are special.” We
look forward to sharing this heartwarming film with you and yours!

founded in 1788, for thirty-six years.
Created Equal is hosted by the Virginia Museum of History and Culture
in partnership with the Richmond Peace Education Center and supported
in part by Diversity Richmond’s VHS Guy Kinman Research Award.
