"This Meetup will be limited to no more than ten people and staying at
least six feet away from others unless you re from the same
household."Here are some things you ll learn on this hike I bet your
friends don t know.
- How could J. E. B. Stuart s receding chin have precipitated events
that nearly changed the course of American history?
- Who is the sculptor that you have never heard of who designed four
prominent monuments in Richmond, and what are those monuments?
- Who is the "Founder" of Richmond, and what were the sexual exposes
involving him and his much younger wife all about?
- Why did Democratic Virginia Senator Byrd work against the election
of Democratic Presidential candidate Truman?
- What did General "Extra Billy" Smith do at Gettysburg that caused
him to abruptly resign his military commission in the Confederate
Army?
- How did Elizabeth Glasgow become famous?
- What s the jaw-dropping thing about the criminal who placed the
capstone on the Confederate Monument that is as incredible as the
story about how we got that job done?
- What s the controversy about the first Confederate to die in the war
about?
- What famous woman insisted her husband had a bastard son? Was she
right?
- What was the "conspiracy of silence" among lots of U. S. Army
soldiers prior to the War Between the States? Hint: It involved
American Indian women.
- Why were two women buried in the Confederate section of the cemetery
when it was strictly reserved for Confederate soldiers and neither was
a soldier? Who are they?
Some of my hikes include much historical commentary, and others are
primarily just hikes. This one is in the former category so expect to
make frequent stops to discuss the historical sites we ll come by.
We did this hike Nov. 8, 2015 covering 3.7 miles in 4 hr 8 min. Here s
