Dance on Camera

Join the VCU Dance Department for an evening of international screen dance films on September 25th at 7:30 PM at the Grace Street Theater. 

This free show offers a dynamic snapshot of the creativity, craft, and global perspectives that have defined the year. Spanning playful surrealism, intimate portraits, and urgent social inquiry, the program moves from the mythic landscapes of French Polynesia to the backstreets of Sevilla, from hand-drawn animation inspired by scientific innovation to raw explorations of family and identity.

Highlights include multiple festival award winners, alongside bold experiments that pair dance with robotics, poetry, and cultural ritual. Together, these works showcase dance film as a powerful storytelling medium—one that bridges tradition and technology, personal reflection and collective memory.
